What is SolShare?
A world-first, Australian-made technology that connects multiple apartments to a single rooftop solar system.
SolShare is the global leader in shared solar technology. Launched by Allume in 2019, this smart hardware distributes solar energy fairly and efficiently to you and your neighbours.

SolShare divides
SolShare splits the energy from a single rooftop solar system.
It is a smart hardware that can be added to a typical solar system and paired with all makes of solar panels, inverters and batteries.
SolShare shares
SolShare shares the energy fairly between all apartments and common areas.
The best part: no one needs to manage it – its dynamic sharing algorithm decides where and when to distribute energy, ensuring each household's share is automatically balanced across the month.
SolShare saves
SolShare’s smart sharing means more solar energy is consumed within your building – rather than being exported to the grid.
Using more solar = saving more money! Typically 15-20% more, compared with non-shared solar.

Hear from apartment residents
“SolShare allows us to access to the benefits of solar that's usually limited to people who live in big houses in suburbs, by providing solar that individual apartments could tap into as well as the body corporate.”
“There's no alternative to allocating solar out to each apartment apart from using Allume and the SolShare device.”
“It turned out we could do the whole building for around the same cost it would have cost two owners to do their own solar system.”
Frequently asked questions
Have a question? We've heard them all. Here are the top FAQs we hear from owners' committees about shared solar for apartments.
SolShare monitors everyone’s energy consumption throughout the month. Towards the end of the month, it prioritises those who haven’t yet received their solar.
A fully installed solar system, which includes SolShare, works out at about $3k-$4.5k per unit. However, government subsidies can cover up to 100%! And there are many funding options available.
Our growing network of certified SolShare installation partners can install SolShare as part of the overall solar system – this includes solar panels, an inverter, SolShare unit(s) and a battery, if applicable.
Reach out to our team if you'd like recommendations for solar installers.
The shared solar system is owned through the owners’ corporation assets, so when an apartment is sold, an equal portion of the shared solar system is included in the purchase through those assets.
Those who wish to opt in to SolShare and receive free ongoing solar (which is usually all residents) will contribute to the cost, either through a special levy or strata funds.
