The Guardian features SolShare unlocking solar for apartments

The Guardian recently ran a feature on one of the biggest blind spots in Australia's renewable energy transition: solar for apartments.

In the article, journalist Petra Stock spoke to our co-founder and CEO, Cameron Knox, about why so few apartment buildings have solar, and how SolShare is helping change that.

It's the kind of coverage we're proud of – not because the problem it describes is a good one – but because it's exactly the problem Allume was founded to solve, and it's national media recognising that solving it takes purpose-built technology, not just goodwill.

Here's what Cameron told The Guardian:

"The historical challenge of solar on apartments has been – you've got one roof, and then you've got each apartment with their own electricity meter, and hence connection to the grid. But that, as you can probably imagine, gets cumbersome pretty quickly... every 200 milliseconds it makes new decisions on where should solar go, to ensure everyone gets their fair share, but gets it at a time which maximises their savings."
